Overview

Pallet Wrap For The Packing Bench

Hand Stretch Film is our linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) pallet wrap formulated for manual application. It is supplied on short, light rolls sized for a hand dispenser, so an operator can wrap a full pallet without a machine and without fighting the film.

The grade is tuned for the way people actually wrap: it starts easily, stretches smoothly under arm tension rather than snapping back, and clings to itself on every overlap so the load locks into one stable unit. Puncture and tear resistance keep sharp carton corners and protruding pallet edges from starting a run.

It is the right choice for packing stations, low-to-medium pallet throughput, mixed-SKU loads and any site wrapping fewer than roughly 20 pallets a day, where a wrapping machine would not pay for itself.

Why It Works

Key Features

Easy manual dispensing

Starts and unwinds smoothly at arm speed, so operators keep a steady wrap rhythm without over-pulling.

High puncture resistance

Absorbs impact from sharp carton corners and protruding pallet edges without starting a tear.

Superior cling performance

Each overlap grips the last and the tail stays down — no tape, no tucking, no unravelling in transit.

Quiet unwind

Low-noise release film keeps packing areas comfortable during continuous manual wrapping.

Excellent load stability

Holds mixed and irregular pallets as one unit through forklift handling, racking and road transport.

High transparency

Barcodes, batch labels and case markings stay scannable through the wrap.

UV resistant option

A UV-stabilised grade is available where wrapped pallets are stored in the open.

Recyclable material

Single-polymer LDPE/LLDPE film, recyclable through standard polyethylene film streams.

Colour Variations

Available Colours

Hand rolls are supplied clear as standard and in seven pigmented colours. Colour is added through the melt rather than coated on the surface, so it runs uniformly through the film and will never rub or transfer onto your goods.

Clear / Natural The standard. Maximum transparency so barcodes and case labels stay scannable through the wrap. Standard
Black Fully opaque. Conceals pallet contents end to end — the usual choice where pilferage is a risk. Standard
White Opaque and heat-reflective, which helps on pallets staged in the open before dispatch. Standard
Blue High-visibility colour coding — commonly used to mark a route, a round or a customer. Standard
Green Clear separation from blue on the warehouse floor; often used for quality-passed stock. Standard
Red Reads as a stop signal at distance — suits damaged, quarantined or hold pallets. To order
Yellow The highest-contrast tint in the range against dark racking and dim aisles. To order
Purple Rarely used elsewhere in a warehouse, so it never collides with an existing colour code. To order

Standard colours are produced routinely and carry the normal minimum order. Colours marked to order, and any bespoke tint, need a dedicated production run — the minimum is higher and the shade is matched against a sample before we schedule it. Opacity, gauge and stretch performance are held level with the clear grade in every colour.

Specialty Options

Built To Your Specification

Beyond colour, a hand roll can be built with any of the following. Combine them freely — a UV-stabilised black film with two-side cling is a single production run, not four.

UV Resistant A stabiliser package built into the resin, rated for months of direct sun instead of weeks.
Anti-Static Suppresses the static discharge that clings dust to the wrap and gives operators a shock.
Coloured Pigmented through the melt in any of the colours above — opacity for security, tint for coding.
One- Or Two-Side Cling Two-side grips irregular loads harder; one-side stops neighbouring pallets sticking together.

Measured, Not Claimed

Performance Characteristics

These are the properties industrial buyers actually compare when they specify a hand film. Each one is measurable, and each one is confirmed on the datasheet issued against your order.

Stretchability

90 – 160% by hand

How far a metre of film travels before it is fully worked. Higher stretch means fewer rolls per pallet — but hand film is deliberately kept below machine levels so an operator can reach it without strain.

Load retention

High

The holding force the wrap still exerts hours after wrapping. Retention, not initial tension, is what keeps a pallet square after a night in a trailer.

Cling performance

One- or two-side

The tack between overlapping layers. One-side cling stops adjacent pallets sticking together in a rack; two-side cling grips harder on irregular loads.

Tear resistance

High

Resistance to a nick propagating into a full-height split. Critical at the pallet corners, where most manual wrap failures begin.

Puncture resistance

High

The energy the film absorbs before a sharp edge breaks through. Governs whether you can wrap unboxed or protruding goods without an extra layer.

Film memory

Balanced

How strongly the film pulls back after stretching. Enough memory tightens the load; too much makes the roll fight the operator.

Optical clarity

High

Light transmission through the wrap. Determines whether barcodes and case labels can be scanned without cutting the film open.

Yield per roll

Consistent gauge

Tight gauge control across the web means the metreage on the label is the metreage on the roll — the single biggest driver of true cost per pallet.

Performance values are typical for the standard grade and vary with gauge, wrapping method and load profile. Ask for the test report covering your specification.

Compatible With

Equipment Compatibility

Hand Stretch Film needs no capital equipment. It is supplied on cores sized for standard manual dispensers, and works equally well straight off the roll.

Manual dispensersStandard pistol-grip and handle dispensers on a 76 mm core.
Braked dispensersFriction- or brake-assisted handles that let the operator dial in tension.
Extended-core rollsCardboard-handle rolls for wrapping without a dispenser at all.
Turntable wrappersHand film can be run on entry-level turntables at reduced pre-stretch — ask for the machine grade once volumes rise.
Choosing A Grade

Hand Film Against The Rest Of The Range

Six stretch film grades, each formulated for a different wrapping method. If your pallet count is climbing past about twenty a day, look at machine or pre-stretched film.

Machine and Hand columns indicate the wrapping method each grade is formulated for. Coloured and UV grades are produced to either a hand or a machine specification — state which you need when you enquire.
